How to Unblock Someone on Snapchat

Unblocking changes a contact restriction. It is different from adding someone as a friend again, restoring a conversation or recovering messages.

Find the blocked list

  1. Open Snapchat and go to your profile.
  2. Open Settings using the settings icon.
  3. Find the blocked-contacts list, usually labeled Blocked. Its placement can differ between versions; use settings search if available.
  4. Find the person you want to unblock and choose the remove or unblock control beside their entry.
  5. Read the confirmation before completing the change.

If you cannot find the list in a modification, check the installed app’s Help or Support option. Do not assume that an unrelated privacy switch is the same as unblocking a person.

After unblocking

Unblocking does not itself prove that the person is back on your friend list or that either of you can view private content. Check your friendship status and privacy preferences separately. You may need to find and add the person again.

Do not expect old messages or Snaps to reappear just because a restriction was removed. For stored information, read the data export guide; for missing content, read recovery and history.

If the wrong person appears

Check the username and account details before changing a restriction. Display names can be similar. If you decide to restrict contact again, see how to block someone.
