Snapchat Data Recovery and History

“History” can mean account records, saved Memories, media on your device or an old conversation. Identify which kind of information you are trying to find before choosing a recovery action.

Start with existing copies

Check content you intentionally saved in the app and any copies you kept on your device. A saved item and a temporary cache file are different things. If you use Memories, review the app’s own backup or synchronization status before making changes to the installation.

This site cannot inspect your account, check its backup state or establish whether a particular item still exists.

What a data request can tell you

An account data export may provide available records associated with your account. It is not a guarantee that the original contents of deleted or expired messages will be included. A record describing an event should not be confused with the media involved in it.

Cache is not a recovery archive

Clearing cache manages temporary files. It does not recreate missing account data. Likewise, installing a modified Snapchat APK does not establish that it can retrieve deleted Snaps or someone else’s private messages.

Avoid treating a general modification feature list as a recovery promise. Media saving normally concerns content that is available to the app at the time, rather than content already removed.

When you need more help

Use the installed app’s Help or Support flow for account-specific questions. Do not give a third party your password, verification codes or complete account export in exchange for an unverified recovery claim. For related topics, return to Support.
