How to Block Someone on Snapchat

Blocking is a contact restriction. Removing a friend, muting a notification and reporting behavior are separate actions, so choose the one that matches what you want to change.

Open the contact controls

  1. Open Snapchat and find the person in Chat or your friend list.
  2. Open or press and hold their entry to find friendship or contact options.
  3. Look for Manage Friendship or the equivalent contact menu.
  4. Choose Block and read the confirmation.
  5. Confirm only after checking that you selected the intended account.

Wording and placement can differ by version. If a modification uses different menus, use the installed app’s Help or Support flow instead of assuming that a hidden-view setting blocks a contact.

Blocking is different from reporting

If you want Snapchat to review content or behavior, use the app’s reporting tools as well. Blocking manages your own contact preferences; it does not replace a report.

Removing someone from a friend list is another separate choice. Review your profile’s privacy controls if your concern is who can view shared content. Do not assume that a single restriction changes every public-facing setting.

Changing your mind

You can review the blocked-contacts list in Settings. See how to unblock someone for the general process. Unblocking is not a method for restoring deleted conversations; read recovery history for that distinction.
